Whether it’s selling the dream to any team or Merivale to the masses, few can match the marketing force that is Andy El-Bayeh. A creative strategist, puppy enthusiast and brand concept don with significant tenures at some of Australia’s most respected F&B brands, Andy knows a thing or two about what truly constitutes unforgettable customer experience. He brings this knowledge, commercial acumen and professional leadership to Example, where he’s been responsible for launching over 50 premium hospitality concepts and curated, branded and marketed sold-out festivals. In between all of that, he redeveloped identities for Mad Mex and The Espy and engineered a strategic about-face for Diageo, and Good Food Month nationally.

From wrangling The Rolling Stones to opening Australia’s hottest new restaurant properties, there’s no stopping Rebecca Gibbs; award-winning publicist, maverick of hospitality launches and undisputed office karaoke queen. A natural leader and born communicator, Rebecca honed her personable approach to PR on both sides of the pond, with top tier gigs in London and Sydney. As Example’s co-director, she employs her unparalleled understanding of the landscape to make every story sizzle, having crafted dynamic communication campaigns for Merivale, The Espy and Lost Paradise.

‘Oh The Places You’ll Go’ is not technically a book about Andrew Cavallaro, but it may as well be. Example’s resident travel, tourism and major events expert, Andrew is the master of making every moment magical. Boasting an intercontinental background that encompasses consumer marketing strategy and integrated digital brand launches, lucky devil Andrew’s spent the last decade criss-crossing the globe, starting agencies of his own and crafting some of our most memorable tourism campaigns. As Example’s Head of Marketing, Andrew’s expertise has already seen him deliver mould-breaking strategy and partnerships for AccorHotels, Eurail, Fairfax Events and Diageo.
Belinda O’Brien

Head Of Creative
If every brand has a story, Belinda O’Brien’s job is make sure yours is one audiences will love forever. A conceptual all-rounder that can strategise as well as she can ideate, design and art direct, Bel is quite literally the head behind Example’s creative output. Past stints at award-winning agencies big and small have shaped her into the total gun we know and love today, with a keen eye for all things good-looking and in her other life as a killer DJ, a finger on the cue button of culture. Bel’s passionate approach to storytelling has already reaped glorious benefits for The Espy, Salt Meats Cheese, Jamaica Blue and if we’re being completely honest, pretty much every client on our books.

Senior Copywriter
Example’s resident brand bard, Jonno made the written word his thing after realising stick figures just wouldn’t cut it as illustration. A multi-literate copywriter and strategist with a knack for establishing a brand’s DNA through tone and positioning, Jonno’s best creative ideas typically involve intuitive branded partnerships. His storied background includes editorial positions at national newspapers and lifestyle publications, as well as creative roles at top-tier agencies. As Example’s custodian of puns, alliteration and correct comma use, Jonno has already put his loud, two-finger typing to good use, selling in concepts to Diageo and Salt Meats Cheese as well as revising our own brand story.

Hospitality Consultant
Monique has a long and diverse experience in the hospitality industry. Her first role was with Gourmet Traveller, Australia's premiere food and travel magazine, where she reviewed and interviewed the best in the business for four years. After attending culinary school and working for the likes of Jamie Oliver and Delicious magazine in the UK as a menu developer and food writer she began her consultancy career. She has an unwavering passion for, and knowledge of the Australian hospitality industry, working for the likes of Merivale, W hotel group, and numerous bars and restaurants in Sydney, Spain and London. Until recently Monique was the director of a hospitality concepts agency but now works with Example to deliver a more holistic solution for clients that includes a strategic thinking through to brand design and full execution.

Senior Designer (Full-time)

As part of our creative team, we need a senior conceptual designer who can craft brands and campaigns built on great ideas in a fast-paced environment.

About the role:

As part of our creative team, we need a senior conceptual designer who can craft brands and campaigns built on great ideas in a fast-paced environment.

You should have 5+ years experience in a similar agency role, be comfortable taking projects from ideation to execution and have a great eye for design and attention to detail. You’ll be working with our Head of Creative across Branding, Marketing and PR briefs on new and existing identities, and various campaign ideation and roll-out across print and digital.

Your roles and responsibilities:

  • Working closely with our Head of Creative on big brand and campaign ideas, and crafting these into beautiful and unique identity systems and designs
  • To have a passion for storytelling through design and appreciate the importance of this to brand experience
  • Having a cutting edge and relevant design aesthetic for some of the most respected hospitality, lifestyle and travel brands in Australia
  • The ability to mock up and visualise high-end design solutions
  • The ability to art direct and brief photographers, producers and copywriters, and have some copywriting skills yourself
  • Can brainstorm ideas within a larger team and work collaboratively
  • Possession of creative flair, versatility, conceptual/visual ability and originality
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Initiative, assurance and confidence to fight for your work and ideas
  • Communicating strong rationale for your concepts and the ability to translate your ideas into presentations suitable for client pitches, in an organised and interesting manner
  • Strong communication skills, clearly able to communicate work internally and to clients, written and verbal

Your Skills and Experience

Midweight Creative Copywriter (Part time / Full-time)

About the role:

As part of our creative team, we want you to champion big ideas and maintain the high standard of copywriting.

Joining our eclectic and talented team, you’ll be working across a range of brand positioning and strategy, creative campaign ideation, marketing messaging and editorial tasks across multiple channels on a day-to-day basis.

Our culture is very hands-on, fast paced and creative. You need to be able to write long and short form copy across all manner of subjects – think big ideas, brand stories, positioning statements, tone of voice, headlines, taglines, social media captions, and everything in between.

Your roles and responsibilities:

  • Working closely with our Head of Creative on big brand and campaign ideas, messaging, tone of voice
  • Working also with our Marketing and PR teams to translate client briefs and creative strategy into original ideas
  • To have a passion for storytelling and appreciate the importance of this to brand experience
  • Communicating strong rationale for your concepts and the ability to translate your ideas into presentations suitable for client pitches, in an organised and interesting manner
  • Strong communication skills, clearly able to communicate work internally and to clients, written and verbal
  • Owning jobs from start to finish
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and your own time, on time and in budget
  • Ability to deduct value propositions, vision statements and develop ideas around key themes for brands and campaigns
  • Ownership of brand naming workshops and distilling into strong brand name territories, backed with extensive research and strong rationales
  • Copywriting across all launch and ongoing campaign collateral including press ads, hero brochures, DMs and eDMs and microsites, amongst others (short and long form copy) consistently with clients’ style guides and to suit a range of audiences
  • Developing PR story angles and writing beautiful and thoughtful pieces, headlines, short form and long form, online and in print
  • Proofreading creative and client comms
  • Developing pitch responses, proposals and presentations
  • Briefing and project managing any content development suppliers for supporting photography and videography requirements

Your Skills and Experience

  • 3–5 years in a similar creative role
  • Proven conceptual ability for original ideas across brand, campaigns and editorial
  • Past experience in and aptitude for writing long copy
  • Seasoned experience working in a creative agency environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively, yet independently where required
  • Self-motivated and proactive thinker
  • Proficiency in tender submission writing
  • Attention to detail
  • A passion for and awareness of Sydney’s food, drink, lifestyle, travel and entertainment industries
